FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<br /><br /><br />CONTRACTORS NEED TO RENEW LICENSE ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 2011 <br /><br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST UTAH LAW REQUIREMENTS <br /><br />August 23, 2011 -Contractor, electrician, plumber, and elevator mechanic permits are governed by the new provisions stated in the latest law passed by Utah legislators. All Utah contractor licenses expire on November 30, 2011.<br /><br />Unless certain continuing education prerequisites are met, contractor license renewal will not be given starting with the current cycle. Courses shown on and authorized by the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing online registry need to be the ones to be chosen by people who need licensing renewal. Courses which aren't shown will not obtain credit. Unless CE courses are completed and uploaded to the registry, renewal will not be completed.<br /><br />The necessary hours of continuing education for contractors is three for the core courses and then three for core or professional courses - that totals to six hours. CE course providers will upload an attendance listing to the DOPL registry as soon as a program is finished. Regardless of whether a contractor’s permit is going to be renewed or not is determined by this listing.<br /><br />Certified electricians must finish a 16-hour CE prerequisite, 12 of which must be in core courses, and the other four in either core or professional courses. The prerequisite for plumbers is a 12 hour CE prerequisite. - eight and four for the core and professional correspondingly. Elevator mechanics must finish an eight-hour CE requirement.
