Coral Hotels & Resorts Supports Dubai Marathon Runner

In an initiative to support participation in the 10km Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2012, Coral Hotels & Resorts in association with Dubai Link sponsored an Ethiopian hopeful to fly in to the UAE and enter his first Dubai event.

A professional marathon runner, Surafel Mekonnen welcomed the opportunity to take part in what is becoming a major event on the international marathon calendar, running in the colours of Coral Hotels & Resorts, one of the HMH – Hospitality Management Holdings’ hotel brands.

In the 10km race, Surafel came in a creditable place, finishing in 32 minutes and cheered on by Michel Noblet, President and CEO of HMH as well as a crowd of his fellow countrymen – Ethiopia overwhelmed the placings in both the full marathon and the 10km event.

“We heartily congratulate Surafel and were delighted to be able to help in a small way,” said Mr Noblet. “It was through the efforts of Girma Wossenseged, Vice President for E-Commerce Development, that we were able to put in place the arrangements to bring Surafel to Dubai and to host him at our hotel during the event – and I would like to thank them both,” he said.
